Since the beginning of the twentieth century heavy electrical engineering, particularly producing power station transformers, has been a major part of Stafford's industry. Stafford train station's position on the West Coast Main Line provides the town with excellent transport links.
Stafford is home to several large electronic manufacturers and computer firms, including GEC Alsthom and Omega Computing. Traditional companies like Evode, RAF Stafford and GEC dominate the local workforce and the town continues to expand with hi-tech companies recently moving to the newly developed technology park at Beaconside. As a result, there are plenty of sales, driving, admin and IT jobs in Staffordshire.
